My Best Part About 2012:
Traveling to St. John, Traveling to Texas, Traveling to Maine, Traveling back and forth from New York to DC … The nomad in me was REALLY happy to travel, regardless of how big or little those trips were.
What was your favorite song/book/movie of 2012?
What was your biggest accomplishment of 2012?
Having ACL/Meniscus surgery and rehabbing myself back to walking without crutches. Talk about patience and delayed gratification … This has got to be one of the toughest experiences I’ve ever gone through. But I’m definitely a stronger person because of it.
What are you looking forward to the most in 2013?
Getting my body back and dancing again. I’ve been working out just about everyday and am slowly building up the strength in my quads, calves, inner thighs and hamstrings. After keeping the weight off my left leg for almost 3 months post surgery, I lost close to 80% of my muscles in that leg. {If you look close in the pics, you can see that one leg/calf is smaller than the other … and my buttcheeks are lopsided haha! baby butt/big butt smh} So I gotta build up the muscles surrounding my knee again before I can jump into a dance class. I can’t wait to take floor barre then ballet so I can shrink my thunder thighs that have grown this past year from inactivity. But I’m most excited to take some african, lyrical jazz, and hip hop classes and sweat it out!!!
What Are Your New Year’s Resolutions?
I have many little resolutions but my MAIN resolution is “To Be Open To Change.” I went through so many changes this year that took a toll on me physically and emotionally. I realize that the issues I had wouldn’t have been issues at all if I had just gone along with the changes instead of resisting change. Without bad/negativity, we would never understand or appreciate the good/positivity of the world around us. It’s not about getting rid of one and replacing it with the other. It’s about finding the balance. By resisting change, I effect the balance in my life. Because everything that happens … Is exactly how it is supposed to happen. I’ve finally comes to terms with that idea and am ready for ALL the change 2013 has comin for me :)
Disclaimer: Everything is sooo much easier said than done sooo we shall see if I actually follow through on this resolution!
{Dress | Cache; Heels | Steve Madden}
Unfortunately, this is NOT what I’m wearing for New Years in NYC lol. I wore this exact outfit for a new years party 3 years ago… And it seemed like the perfect dress to wear for the Blogger’s Ball hosted by Rachel, Niki and Jessica. So it was nice to take this dress and heels out of the closet, dust it off, get dolled up and have a lil photoshoot courtesy of the self-timer app on my iPhone. {Courtesy of being home alone for Christmas lol} It felt even better when the dress zipped all the way up! It was a little tight across my chest area but it FIT! {I guess my workouts are working because I couldn’t zip this dress all the way up when I last tried it on in September!}
But the truth is … I wouldn’t last 30 minutes walking in those heels around NYC! Plus, it’s cold outside and I don’t got no car. Some girls can do it but I refuse. My real outfit for New Years will look something like a cute lil dress from Lulu’s with some FLAT knee high boots. Very appropriate for partying it up and walking around the Concrete Jungle via public transportation with my girlfriends :)
