Your girl’s got a new tea toy and is nerding out per usual. ^^ Behold. My new little teapot with infuser. Isn’t she a beaut?
Typically, when making tea, I use tea bags. But lately, I’ve found myself gravitating towards using loose leaf tea to make a hot cuppa. I have a small infuser I use to steep the tea leaves in hot water but that only makes one cup of tea at a time.
I stopped by my local Asian Mart this past weekend and wandered down their cookware aisle in search of a little teapot with an infuser that would allow me to make at least TWO cups of loose leaf tea at a time.
I ended picking the teapot I did because of its simple cherry blossom flower design which felt appropriate considering my favorite season, Spring, is fastly approaching.

^^ During my time in Jordan, I grabbed a big bag of loose leaf Bedouin tea to bring home as a souvenir. One year later, I’m halfway through the bag and its the only loose leaf tea I’ve been drinking.
Definitely plan to stop by Calabash Tea in D.C. and pick up a new tea blend or two in the next couple of weeks. Gotta support the local tea scene.
^^ Fresh tulips courtesy of Charles who surprised me with them this past Friday. After getting flowers for Valentine’s Day, I honestly wasn’t expecting to get flowers from him again until next year so this was totally unexpected but greatly appreciated. Love you Boo. <3

^^ Left: I filled the infuser about halfway with tea leaves to leave room for them to expand in the hot water and let them steep for about 2-3 minutes before I pour a hot cuppa. Right: In case any of you think I actually keep our coffee table clean, I don’t. I just move all the junk to the side to take pictures.
It was super nice to be able to make tea for both myself and Charles in one steeping session this past Sunday. The formality of pouring from the teapot made the tea feel and taste extra special in its own way.
One day, I’d love to get a bigger teapot and actual teacups and also a clear teapot to use for blooming teas but I have to hold myself back from getting crazy with the tea accessories because our kitchen is small and lacking storage. Charles has a “one in, one out” policy which means I technically need to get rid of something in our kitchen cabinet to make room for my teapot… But I feel like if I can make it fit then I shouldn’t have to get rid of anything, right?
What kind of tea do you prefer to use? Tea Bags or Loose Leaf?
