{The view from the University of West Indies before we drove off to St. Martin’s Bay.}
Our 3rd Day On The Island, we went to the southeast side of the island to check out the fish fry at Martin’s Bay. This bay is located on the Atlantic side of the island where the coast is filled with rock beaches and surfable waves. There was something so scary and awe-inspiring about watching the multitude of waves bear down on this beach area… One of those moments where I thought “Me vs. Ocean … Me Die.”
As For The Fish Fry, I think the pictures speak for themselves. We Were Grub-A-Dubbin! To eat freshly caught swordfish, barracuda, red snapper, marlin and shark was an experience… Salmon will never taste the same again… Ever. I ordered shark since I remembered my bucket list for this year was to eat something different from the norm. Granted, it was fried … But I think it still counts. The meat was creamy and sooo fresh. Our orders came with two sides. I had a salad and Mac Pie, which is basically macaroni and cheese with an island twist from the Bajan seasoning they add in. I wasn’t a big fan of the Mac Pie. But the mashed sweet potatoes Charles got … I was all up in his dish! We pretty much switched sides.
We Arrived at Bay’s Tavern for the Fish Fry around 11am and it was kinda a dead … By 12pm, the place was packed and the line to order your food was almost out the door. We ended up staying there for a couple of hours, chatting, drinking, watching the rain come and go… The fish fry in Martin’s Bay is a trip you must take if you ever visit Barbados. Just make sure to get there early! It’s a guaranteed oral-gasm ;)
