Because your girl has been unplugged for the second half of summer and an update feels overdue.
I’ve come to the realization that whenever I say I’m going to start blogging consistently, I jinx myself and end up not blogging at all…. Sooooo yea. I’m done with that approach and will just blog when I’m able to because, this summer, life decided to cancel all my plans (including travel) in a “good but stressful, slightly overwhelming but I can’t complain because it’s overall good” kind of way.
In an effort to purge my mind of distractions in midst of many life changes, I deleted all the social media apps from my phone, including Instagram and ghosted for a little bit. It was a reallllly nice break… Sooo nice that I plan to set more strict boundaries on my relationship with the digital world moving forward.
To complement the unplugging of summer, Charles and I have been spending alot of our downtime going on nature walks and hikes to make up for the fact that we weren’t able to go up to Maine this year. Fresh air, conversation and physical endurance always make the body feel so good.
On this particular day, we were hiking the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls Park in Maryland. We had arrived at 7am and had the trail to ourselves.
We initially planned to hike the A trail but, when we arrived, both the A and B trails were closed due to recent rain and the Potomac River flooding in parts of the trail.
As a result, we ended up walking the C trail – the easiest section of the trail.
We spent most of our walk swatting away the mosquitos and arguing debating passionately about what “quality time” means for each other. It was a circular conversation that kept going around and around with no end in sight until we finally gave into the silence of our surroundings and just walked…
Walked out our frustrations from the work week annd walked our frustrations with ourselves. After the walk, we picked up the topic of “quality time” and finally made some headway in how to compromise and move forward. It was an “aha” moment that I attribute to Nature and its therapeutic power.
In addition to unplugging and getting my nature on, below are a few highlights from this past summer.

Annnnnnnd guess what? I HAVE AN OFFICE!!! WITH A WINDOW!!! I’ve been a cube girl my whole 9 to 5 life so this was an unexpected surprise when my boss showed me around the office space. **Blessings**

FOUR.
As for my fourth update…
Well, I’m realizing as I’m typing this up that it might be too early to say anything because nothing is set in stone and I feel like I should wait until I know for sure, for sure that nothing can possibly jinx this completely unplanned but exciting update.
Everything will be confirmed by mid-September and, so until then, the photo to the left (or above, if you’re reading this from your phone) is a little hint to hold you over…

And that’s that.
This summer summed up into a few points because it’s been a blur and I honestly can’t remember everything that happened.
The weekdays have been busy. The weekends even busier and I’ve been over here just trying to keep my mind above the basic stress level as I navigate through work and life transitions.
With that said, I know I’m being super fishy with my 4th update and feel bad for leaving ya’ll hanging (sorry I’m not sorry?). Feel free to let me know in the comments below if you have any guesses as to what the update might be.
Until then (and by “then”, I mean later in September when things calm down), I hope summer is going great on your side of the online world and that your Labor Day weekend is filled with positive energy, people and life happening moments.
BRB.
