A few of my favorite little happenings from June in photos and links. :)
Life Happening

One. Stopping and smelling the roses with Charles during our weekly Sunday evening walk around the neighborhood.
Two. Jammin out to N.E.R.D. in their hometown, Virginia Beach (also Charles’s hometown). The last time I saw them perform was way back in 2009 when they opened for Jay-Z for his Fall Tour. 10 years later, Pharrell, Chad and Hugo are still performing and rockin out on stage like they were 22. It was awesome.

Three. Our dear friends, Anthony and Steph, finally tied the knot after 12 years of togetherness. Charles has known Anthony since grade school, was the best man and gave the sweetest speech. It was a beautiful evening in a stunning outdoor venue filled with lots of love, dranks, and dancing.
Four. This eggplant dish my friend’s mom made for a get together that made me think of Christmas.
Five. A super basic selfie of me in my apartment because I’ve been manifesting major homebody vibes lately.
Arts Happening
Music. Music has always been political and here’s a look at what resistance has been sounding like in the age of Trump in the LA area and beyond.
Dance. So You Think You Can Dance is on its 15th season and the New York Times explores its effects on the dance world – both the good and bad.
Art. The Baltimore Museum sold works by white male artists (Warhol being one of them) to acquire art by underrepresented artists and it’s a movement I can get behind. I’m all about disrupting the canons and redefining the kind of art museums deem as “good enough” to put on their walls.
Theatre. AMC just launched their Stubs A-List. Does this mark the beginning of Movie Pass’s demise? A quick 4-minute discussion about it on NPR. Soundbite here – press play on the top left corner.
Blog Happening
One. The summer slump is real… I just want to be outside and read books and not be in front of the computer. But in my June downtime, I brainstormed and set a plan for blogging consistently in July so we shall see how it goes. Be on the lookout for a 1-2 posts coming your way every week in July. :)
Two. I’m in the process of redesigning this site to incorporate my photography services. Yes, you heard right. Photography services. It’s been a long time coming and my goal is to officially launch everything by early Fall. A huge shout out to Valla who’s been my go-to source of support as I navigate through this venture.
Three. Sharing the love for a few posts I enjoyed reading this past month:
– Learning To Speak British by Kelly from Sparkles and Shoes – She recently moved from NYC to the UK two months ago and breaks down British lingo as it translates to American.
– Freediving and a Lionfish Hunt by Malou from Skip to Malou – Malou is the first blog friend I ever made when I started blogging over 6 years ago. She lives in Barbados and blogs about island life and her passion for social entrepreneurship, volunteerism and sustainable travel. She recapped her time going spearfishing which is so badass to me. As much as I love the water, I’m not the strongest swimmer and so I’m always in awe of her freediving skills.
– Some Lessons and Truths about Time Management by Amber from Space on Third – She pulled me in the moment she said “time management doesn’t exist.” As a person who regularly struggles with time management, my biggest takeway from her post was I need to figure out my focus routine.
– Vietnamese Garlic Shrimp Noodle Salad by Naji from RecipeTin Eats – Whenever I eat out at a Vietnamese restaurant, I always order one of two things… Pho when it’s cold outside or a vermicelli noodle salad when it’s hot. Charles mentioned that I should try to make the vermicelli salad at home since I like to eat it alot so I’m definitely going to be giving this recipe a try – it’s surprisingly pretty simple to make!

Annnnd that pretty much sums up June for me. Overall, I’ve just been laying low, working, minding my business, eating vegetables, and trying not to let the pho-kery of the world bring me down too much.
As for what I’m looking forward to in July: Charles and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary later this week, we’ve got 2 weddings to go to annnnnnd hopefully, I’ll be getting my braces taken off. It all depends on if my teeth settle in the way my Orthodontist wants them to in the next couple of weeks. Soooo yea, c’mon teeth!!
How’s life been happening on your side of the online world?
