Let recap of life happenings begin! In February…
^^ Charles and I finally found time to visit the Renwick Gallery in D.C. and see their “WONDER” exhibit. Renwick Gallery, located right across the street from the White House, was closed for two years for a renovation project and re-opened last November ’15. The “WONDER” exhibit is made of nine different site specific installations that aim to make you do exactly what the name of the exhibit says – WONDER. Unfortunately, the gallery was packed with people so we weren’t able to experience the art space in the way we prefer (quietly, without having to rush through) so we may come back on a weekday morning when the museums in D.C. are usually quietest.
^^ Charles and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with a lowkey lunch date at Pazzo Pomodoro in Vienna, VA for some yummy Italian cuisine. We order the deep fried, panko crusted mozzarella triangles as an appetizer and crab & lobster ravioli for the main course. As for dessert, I posted a photo of what we had on Instagram. It was freaking ah-mazing. After lunch, we came home, watched “Friday” and chilled out for the rest of the evening with two bottles of wine nearby. As I said, reeeeal lowkey which is just how we like it.
^^ I booked my first trip of the year! In less than five weeks, I’ll be hopping on a plane to visit my girl, Anna, in South Carolina! I seriously can’t wait.
^^ My BBF, Durell, was in town for a couple of days. We caught up with each other over dinner and went to see the Mark Morris Dance Group, one of my fave dance companies, perform. Icing on top = Durell was recently made an apprentice with this company!!! Right now, he is an understudy but one day, it’s very possible that he’ll be dancing on stage with them and I seriously can’t wait for that day to come!!! It made me so proud to see his pic and bio in the concert program because I know how much he’s wanted this since I’ve known him in college. :)
^^ My girl, Camesha, is pregnant with her second child and due in a couple weeks! She had her baby shower two weeks ago and it was a great get together filled with family, friends, and pure excitement in anticipation for the newest addition of our circle to finally come.
^^ Speaking of showers, my cousin, Molly, is getting married in April and she had her bridal shower last weekend. The theme of the shower was “everything tea party” and I must say that the decor for her celebration was on point! I’m really excited for her wedding because she and her fiance will be doing a traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony and the bridal outfits for traditional Cambodian weddings are so beautiful! I’m also excited Charles to attend the wedding and experience the rituals associated with this cultural event since he’s never attended a traditional Cambodian wedding before. :)
^^ This past month I decided to buckle down and get organized when it comes to blogging (and life in general). This is a new approach for me as I’ve always been the type of blogger to work on a blog post the night before it goes up…
Overall, my hope is that by getting organized I’ll 1) Get more sleep 2) Be able to share content consistently even when I don’t have time to work on a blog post 3) Have time to work on posts because I’m actually scheduling time out of my week to do it 4) Get back to having fun with blogging again since it won’t an added stress trigger with everything else I’m juggling 5) Feel more confident about the quality of content I share because I’ll be putting in the time and because deep down, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my sh*t.”
One thing to note is that after a couple brainstorming sessions, I’ve come up with a new publishing schedule to create a structured flow with topics I like to blog about. The schedule (which goes into effect today) looks a little something like this:
Tuesdays = Travel Related Posts
Fridays = Food Related Posts
Sundays = Personal/Lifestyle Related Posts a.k.a. Sundays will pretty much be a free day for me to blog about whatever I want.
Sound good to you?
