It’s Nutcracker Season … Which means I’m a slave to my job for the next two weeks… I work for a prestigious higher ed dance program in New York and we are now in production mode since we moved into the theatre this past weekend after weeks of rehearsals in the dance studios. This means overseeing warm-up classes, making sure all the dancers show up tech and dress rehearsals, updating A/B cast lists and cast conflicts … Basically getting ready for showtime. It’s a huge production and I’ve learned so much about stage management within the field of dance education. I love it :)

Oh yea … And the pic above…
The performance scenes of The Black Swan were filmed in the performing arts center of my school and as I was posting the sign-up sheets on the call board, I stopped by THIS dressing room. You know, just so I could feel cool and officially say that I stood in Natalie Portman’s dressing room ;) #perksofthejob
In between all the craziness, I made time to meet up with some friends who were visiting from DC. As we were strolling around 14th street, we came upon the Union Square Holiday Market. A seasonal hubub of small business merchants, this market is the perfect place to go shopping for holiday presents.
If you’re in New York, you should definitely check out this market. It’s cute and does a good job of distracting you from the fact that it’s freezing cold at night. Between
the handmade jewelry, toys, artwork, handblown glasses and recycled
handbags, I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking. Or you can also
just browse and people watch which is what me and my friends did before
we headed to Republic for some yummy and decently priced asian noodle cuisine.
