It’s been soooo cold in New York these past couple of weeks … Major Ew. I think the weather here plays a part on why I’m procrastinating with finishing up the posts about my trip to Barbados because then … The trip will really be over… No more posts to psychologically warm me up as I read along with what I’m writing :(
Oh Holetown… Yet another beach on the Bajan Isle that set the scene for ah-mazing conversation between Charles & I. Being electronically unplugged during the days really opened up our channels of communication. No iPhone apps to play around with, no texting while at the dinner table, or putting someone on speaker phone while scrolling through instagram … (yes, I’m guilty.) I really felt like we “heard” each other that week we were away. I understand now why therapists are always suggesting for couples to go on vacation if they’re having problems. I mean Hello … Couples Retreat is the perfect example of a vacation can bring couple back from the brink of divorce ;) Not that Charles and I were planning on getting a “divorce” or anything before we left for this trip but we definitely came back feeling closer and more connected.
And of course I had to take a picture of Grampa (above) strutting his stuff along the beach at Holetown. I mean … If you got it, flaunt it! Charles thought I was rude to take a picture of Grandpa’s butt. I obviously thought differently … ;)
And I can’t forget our night out at Sugar Ultra Lounge. Sugar is an indoor/outdoor lounge on the west side of the island in the GAP area. It was a beautiful venue with white walls and crazy LED lights bouncing from wall to wall.
Charles and I had a slammin time but you know what? I remember the time I used to get down all night long … But by the time it was 1am, Charles and I were ready to call it a night. Charles even said “Babe, we can’t hang like we used to.” To which I just laughed because it was true. Either that … Orrrr crazy headbanger music for 3 hours straight with people mosh-pitting is just not our scene anymore. I’ll go with the latter since I like to think I can still hang. Give me some tribal house music and I will def dance the night away ;)
Oh Barbados … Could you send some of your warmth to NYC?
xo, Setarra
