Today, I’m going to get a little more personal than I usually do…. And having realized that I’ve got some new followers lurking around, I thought I’d introduce myself via the ABC game and let you guys in on the randomness that is my life. Erin of Two Thirds Hazel put me on to this fun survey so I thought I’d give it a try too with my own little twist.
A: Apples – I like them sliced with crunchy peanut butter.
^^^ B: Bleeding Hearts – My favorite flowers. Peach colored roses are my second favorite.
C: Cereal – I love Honey Nut Bunches of Oats (with Almonds) and Honey Nut Cheerios.
Pretty much any kind of cereal with honey :)
D: Discounts – I like everything at a discount. As such, I’m always browsing sites like Groupon, Living Social and my new favorite, ShopAtHome.com (an online coupon site that provides an unlimited amount of coupons, coupon codes and cash back to their customers. Really cool site!)
^^^ E: Ethnicity – To put it simply, I’m Black, White and Cambodian. To break down the ethnicity, I’m African-American (with a mix of Cherokee Indian), French Canadian and Cambodian (with a mix of a little Chinese). And after my parents divorced, my father later on married my Dominican step-mom and my mom married my Cambodian step-dad. As such, I have a step-brother who is Dominican, two younger brothers and a sister who are Black, White and Dominican and another brother who is full Cambodian. And yes, we ARE a typical American family despite what protesters of the Cheerios commercial may think. If you’re interested on my thoughts about growing up mixed, you can read more here.
F: Flatulence – I do my best to walk out of a room before it happens. If I can’t do that, I’ll just stick my butt out the door.
G: Grapes – I like them best when frozen.
H: House Hunters International – If there’s a marathon going on … Don’t you dare try to change the channel.
^^^ I: Instagram – My favorite form of social media. I love taking pictures and take my instagramming a bit seriously. You can follow me @ setarrra :)
J: Jigglypuff – In the realm of Pokemon, Jigglypuff reigns supreme for me. I know how to sing her song perfectly. I may even channel this lil lady for Halloween :)
K: Kids? – No Thanks. At least not for another 4-5 years please.
L: Life Isn’t Complete Without – Chocolate … Trust me on this.
^^^ M: Music Video – I was cast in music video featuring, Wale, back in the day. In the video, I pat my weave but in reality, there was no weave on my head haha. It’s my one claim to fame! I can’t wait to show it my future grandkids when I’m all wrinkly to prove that I was pretty hip back in the day. You can see the video here. I’m might just be the chick wearing stripes and booty shorts…
N: Nicknames- Satooty Booty, Tootie, Booty, Setarter Sauce, Star-a, Mickey Gotti
O: Opera – I have a tendency to rap hip hop verses with an Opera remix. It’s so much more fun that way.
^^^ P: Passion – I am passionate about dance. I am even more passionate about the importance of dance in a child’s development through education. Unfortunately, dance is usually the first program cut from the educational system when funding for the arts is low. As a dance teacher, I’ve seen first hand the positive effects of dance on child’s ability to learn effectively. Through dance, students are required to learn physically, cognitively, visually, and audibly which are skills not developed in a typical gradeschool classroom. And I could go on and on and on … Maybe I’ll save that for another post.
Q: Favorite Quote – “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” – Dr. Seuss
^^^ R: Relationship Status- Newly Engaged. And making no plans what so ever for a wedding at the moment. 2015 is a lonnnng way away. We’re gonna just enjoy being engaged for a while :)
S: Setarra – My name is pronounced like the Star-A in the Sky-A. Not the Air-a that you Breathe-A.
T: Turquoise – I love all the colors in the rainbow. But if I had to choose one, I really do love me some turquoise.
U: Unknown Fact About Me – I’m allergic to cockroaches … For Seriously. Just ask the doctor who did my allergy test and had my arm puff up from putting essence of cockroach doo doo on my arm.
V: Vegetable – Corn. OFF the cob. With gobs of butter and powdered parmesan cheese.
^^^ W: Worst Insecurity – My teeth… I was born without a canine tooth and had really bad gapped teeth up until I got braces my senior year in high school. The dentist said they could drill a fake tooth in or just push my teeth together. I didn’t want to have surgery so I had them push my teeth together but as a result I have a crooked smile. The closed mouth smile stuck with me for the longest because I was embarrassed of my crooked teeth. Only over this past year have I started smiling with my teeth showing …
X: Xerox Confession? – The worst I’ve ever done was xerox a copy of my hand … That I then turned into a turkey with a magic marker since it was Thanksgiving season. I’m too much of a punk to try and xerox my buttcheeks.
Y: Always Yearning For – Any cuisine that is South Asian. Thai, Vietnamese and esp. Cambodian food are the bomb diggity. I can’t live without rice … I’m also a sucker for tator tots, mashed potatoes and cornbread. And OF COURSE, chocolate :)
^^^ Z: Zodiac Sign – Aries aka The Ram. The first sign of the zodiac, Aries are leaders of the pack and first in line to get things going. The element associated with Aries is Fire. Think action, enthusiasm, and a desire to play the game. Aries loves physicality so they won’t sit on the sidelines for long … Yeap. That’s pretty much me in a nutshell … Gotta thank my parents for my making me the first born in my family, supporting my love for dance, telling me to never take no for an answer and where the line was between being cocky vs. being confident. Annnnd also for “doing the do” so that I could be born in the month of April and proudly claim Aries as my sign ;)
Hope you enjoyed this little look into the girl behind the blog! This weekend, I’m heading to wedding #9 for the year. I know … This wedding marathon our friends and family have going on is a bit crazy! But I’m never one to turn down an open bar in the name of love ;) Charles and I are pretty much pros at being wedding guests haha! Have A Great Weekend!!!
