The road to my heart begins with food, of which you can never go wrong when inviting me out for pizza… Jumbo slice pizza from Duccini’s in the Adams Morgan area of D.C. to be exact. My ratchet twin, Kim, was back in town for the weekend by way of San Francisco and invited me out for a quick reunion at this yummy dive.
Located near U St.’s bar scene, Duccini’s is typically crowded with people looking to feed the liquor around 2am when all the bars and clubs close. If one were to visit Duccini’s at 7pm = Not as crowded which was perfect for us because we were able to walk into the small, corner pizza joint and order our slices immediately.
As you can see from the photo above, jumbo slices of pizza are named appropriately. They are bigger than your head in the best way possible. My favorite thing about Duccini’s is that their pizza crust is crispy from top to bottom which makes every bite a crunchy experience (pizza texture is key for me). Their pizzas are a little greasy but that’s nothing a quick dab of napkins can’t fix. So make sure to dab them up because without the grease, they are perfect.

After stuffing our faces, we hopped in Eser’s car and drove down the National Mall where the majority of D.C.’s monuments, museums and memorials are located so Kim could have one last look at the major landmarks of her hometown before she flew back to the west coast the following morning.
Hanging out around The Mall at night is one of my favorite things to do because the area is not as crowded with tourists. Personally, I try to avoid the Mall during the day (along with almost everyone I know who lives in the area). At night is when we (locals) are able to “reclaim” the city for ourselves and enjoy the memorials when they are all lit up in a much, much calmer environment.

^^ Love these two.
