Today’s photos are a few of my favorites from my second maternity shoot that took place this past August. My cousin, April, was just about ready to pop when Charles and I met up with her, her husband, Jarrod, and their daughter, Jordan (she gave birth my niece, Gabby, less than 2 weeks later). We used the Gaylord Hotel at the National Harbor in D.C. as our backdrop and had sooo much fun! For this shoot, I pushed myself to experiment more with using my camera in manual mode instead of automatic (as I usually do) and I am pretty happy with the results.
^^ We plan on re-creating this picture but with Jarrod kissing Gabby in April’s arms the second time around :)
^^ Isn’t Jordan the cutest?! :)
I still don’t feel 100% comfortable charging people to take their pictures but every opportunity to snap photos in a mock professional setting is an opportunity for me to learn more about my camera and my stylistic preferences when shooting. Maybe one day I’ll jump into the professional end of it all… But right now, photography is simply a hobby I enjoy. Thank goodness for family and friends who let me take their pictures without too many expectations :)
