I got an email notification from Bluehost that it’s time for me to renew my website hosting. It’s the first time, since I transitioned from Blogger to WordPress, that I questioned whether the expense of this online space was worth the return on investment of personal fulfillment… Emphasis on personal fulfillment because your girl decided a long time ago that going the ‘commercial influencer’ road was not for her.
It’s been 12 years since I published my first post… Of which, I blogged pretty consistently up until 2019. Then the pandemic hit in 2020, I became a mom to Beau in 2021, then became pregnant again in 2022, gave birth to Drew in 2023… And here we are – officially done with 2024; kicking off 2025 – and this lil corner of the blogdom has fallen to the wayside. I did try to pick it back up a couple times over the years but nothing sustainable and nothing that felt truly fulfilling for myself.
That said, I ultimately decided to hit renew on my website hosting for 2025.
As overwhelming as motherhood has been with two boys under 3, I’m finally starting to see the light of capacity get brighter as the boys become more self-dependent in their development. And so, I’m gonna give myself one more year to give this space a go. See if I find my blogging mojo again.
It helps that blogging is past its peak popularity era. Long form content seems like a thing of the past and I kind of like that there’s less mass appeal and viewership. Makes this space seem more private. Makes it feel easier to blog like no one is watching. Makes it feel like I’m blogging in 2012 again.
My main goal with this online journal is keep things casual and creative.
- Casual in that content may be a little less personal – going ‘deep’ online in our current chaotic world has proven itself to be a big no no when it comes to protecting my peace. Life is life-ing and it’s already hard enough to deal with in reality… No need to rehash certain parts of it online.
- Creative in that I plan to place a major focus on my development as a photographer this year and am excited to share more of that journey here. These past couple of years, all of my creative energy went into growing two little humans and I’m really excited to be at the point in my life where I have capacity to start exploring creativity again for myself.
My go-to blog motto has always been ‘live first, blog later’… And 5 years later, after going through so many major changes, I feel like my current phase of life has finally come full circle and brought me back to this space. It feels good to be back as much more experienced, confident, wiser grown ass woman. It feels good to be back with no pressure.
Wishing you a happy new year. Until next post…

*** Photos from the one and only time my family made it out a local beach last August. If you’re ever in the Virginia Beach area, skip the Oceanfront and head 30 minutes south to Sandbridge Beach. It’s quieter, calmer, and cleaner when it comes to beach quality and restrooms. Not too many options when it comes to food so make sure to pack a cooler. But overall, Sandbridge > oceanfront Virginia Beach… IYKYK.
